As an economy centered on social utility and driven by collective actors rooted in local territories, the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) directly addresses several global priorities: poverty eradication, gender equality, decent work, reduction of inequalities, responsible consumption, climate justice, and many others. SSE organizations—cooperatives, associations, mutual societies, and social enterprises—work every day to provide innovative, inclusive, and sustainable solutions to economic, social, and environmental challenges.
Morocco, fully committed to implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), recognizes SSE as a strategic partner in this journey.
Through its initiatives, programs, and reforms, the Secretariat of State in charge of Handicrafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy actively promotes a structured and sustainable contribution of the SSE sector to the SDGs by fostering alternative economic models with impactful results.
By encouraging social entrepreneurship, supporting high-impact local initiatives, and assisting field actors, SSE helps to localize the SDGs and strengthen community resilience.
The National Debate on the Social and Solidarity Economy embodies this convergence between public policies, international commitments, and grassroots dynamics. It illustrates the Kingdom’s determination to anchor its development in a logic of equity, sustainability, and citizen participation, aligned with the principles of the 2030 Agenda.
